New city auditor
Deb Trnka has been hired as Minnewaukan’s city auditor. She was born in Iowa and grew up in Minnesota. She is married to Benson County Highway Superintendent Don Trnka. They live southwest of Minnewaukan. She enjoys farm life and raises guinea hens, chickens, cats and a dog. She has four grown daughters and eight grandchildren. In her leisure time she enjoys sewing, quilting and crafting. Her office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Sing in Minot
Several young men from the Minnewaukan High School Choir participated in the Young Men’s Choral Festival in Minot sponsored by The Heritage Singers and Minot State College. The students, accompanied by Mr. Tyler Heser, rehearsed Sunday evening and all day Monday. The boys participated in a concert with The Heritage Singers and the MSU Men’s Choir. Three visitors from Skeien in Telemark, Norway, who attended the Norsk Hostfest in Minot, took time to find Lake Ibsen, which was named for the Norwegian dramatist Henrik Ibsen, who was also from Skeien. They were directed to Lee Larson, who lived most of his life near the lake and gave them the information they were seeking. Hermod H. The Minnewaukan School held a family fun night that included supper, reading tips and bingo on October 7. Books were given to all participants and bingo winners.
