Postmaster retires
Minnewaukan Postmaster Connie Verville, right, retired from her position January 1 after serving 18 years in Minnewaukan. She was an elementary teacher prior to joining the USPS in Crary in 1978. She has a master’s degree in education from UND. She and her husband, Gary operate Bayview Resort on Devils Lake and that is where her activities will be centered in the future. Beth Huffman of Minnewaukan, left, has been named officer-in-charge of the Minnewaukan Post Office. She has been with the USPS since 1987 and has been serving at St. Michael since March of 1991.



Coat drive held
Lake Region State College honor organization, Phi Theta Kappa, operated a coat and winter gear drive this fall. The service organization collected boxes of winter coats, snow pants, hats and mittens. Lakeside Dry Cleaners laundered the items, which were then donated to Early Explorers Head Start. Wins essay contest
Inez Klein, president of the Auxiliary to the Robert Tovsrud VFW Post 757 of Harlow, presents checks to Shelby Jorgenson of Leeds, who won the Auxiliary’s Patriot’s Pen essay contest for seventh and eighth grade students on the local level. She also won second place on the district level. She received $25 from the Auxiliary, $50 from the Harlow VFW Post and $125 from the District VFW.
