Driver’s view
A common view of drivers in North Dakota in the winter is shown in this photo which was taken about 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 on ND 19 north of Minnewaukan. The temperature was -10F and the wind was strong, resulting in -30F wind chill factors. Nighttime temperatures over the weekend degenerated to nearly -30F without the aid of a wind chill factor.

Dads visit grade 1
The first grade class of Maddock had its annual Snow Party on Monday, Jan. 29 with their dads as special guests. The dads wore snowflake boutonnieres made by their children. Stories, penguin poems and songs were presented by the first graders wearing penguin colors, black and white. Dads helped their children create an acrostic poem with a winter weather word mounted on an ice chunk topped with a penguin.
Snowballs and cookies were served for lunch. Left to right, kneeling in front are Corey Olson and Spencer and Ross Hill and Zachary.
Standing: John Lawson and Brandon, Jason Lee and Keringten, Mark Tandeski and Garret, Mike Duren and Greta, Jared Benson, Tate and Chase (visitor), Ed Nystrom and Justin and Brad Johnson and Kevin.
